Our History
The history of Glaslyn Hawking holidays began several years ago with the purchase of a local woodland in Nantmor. Our very own temperate rainforest here in Wales. A Cecile Oak rainforest. We have spent a decade researching and restoring her to her full glory. Enjoying the rewilding of wildlife like pine martins.
This project has only been possible with the support and help of the local community and farmers. Through this project they have become friends, and I can only thank them for their support.
The Hawking holiday idea came from a realisation that securing permission was challenging for hawking and My son struggled with finding ground to hunt with his hawk without securing long term agreements.
It was then I asked friends in the farming community could we have rights to utilize their land.
So, it came together, and we had Glaslyn Hawking holidays set up. The aim of this project was to provide falconers & Austringers safe, secure and varied space and facilities to fully enjoy their sport. Safe in the knowledge no laws are broken, and no trespassing is occurring. Furthermore, we wanted to bring something to the community which wasn’t taking from them as many outside businesses do. Our aim is to give this business and ultimately its ownership to them.
With this in mind we appointed a local man from Porthmadog as general manager and shareholder. We are in discussions with a local community group to hand over shares to them also. So, this is not about one person or outsiders.
Our tours are insured, locally run from the community and all falconers/Austringers will be provided with legal permission agreements beforehand and ID papers and visible identification so farmers and landowners can easily identify you.
You will be supported by our local team and provided with transportation to and from locations if needed. Rest assured you will be welcomed onto the area, and you will have all permits necessary.
If you have any questions, please contact us either by email or phone.
